Alan Oppenheimer, Trek & Six Million

Here's a blast from the past! Alan Oppenheimer has been in He-Man, The Six Million Dollar Man, Smurfs, he's the voice of Mighty Mouse and more recently Star Trek: The Next Generation. This was a great success for me, as I watched him A LOT as a kid!

Vorik, ahh Taurik. Sorry, I get confused.

So, this one took me quite a while. Alexander Enberg was quite elusive. I finally got what I thought was a good address. So I put my packet together and mailed it of May of 1997, then waited for the return. And waited, and waited. March 22, 1999, my patience was finally rewarded! Beautiful card, with a great address. Sometimes it pays to be patient...though it may be a little tough.

Interesting side note, according to Memory Alpha's web-site "Vorik was played by Alexander Enberg, who had previously played the similarly-named Vulcan Ensign Taurik in the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode "Lower Decks". Producer Jeri Taylor (who happens to be Enberg's mother) once suggested that Taurik and Vorik were twin brothers."

Pulled from the packs - Episode 02

And here we have the A-3 card from the SkyBox 1998 set of "Star Trek: Insurrection" Widescreen cards, signed by none other than Brent Spiner as Lieutenant Commander Data. I've met Brent on a few occasions, and he's always been great fun.

majQa' Marc Okrand

Back in 1994, after reading a cool article about the Klingon language, decide it was time to track down Marc Okrand. I wrote to him, and sent a few Klingon cards, a copy of the Klingon Dictionary and the article from People. Low and behold, in March 1995, I received my stuff back, signed. He also included a quick note, which  I thought that was very cool. Great guy, and an awesome addition!

Professor Farouk El-Baz, Shuttlecraft

On January 11, 1995, I wrote a letter to Professor Farouk El-Baz at Boston University's Center for Remote Sensing. I had earlier read an article about the good doctor in OMNI magazine and was excited to hear about his research. More than that, I was sure he was the namesake for the shuttlecraft in the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode "Time Squared." You can imagine how excited I was to receive a letter back from him, handwritten, as well as copies of articles about his life, singed cards and the cool picture from OMNI. In the letter he wrote that he had kept a couple of cards for himself, as he had never seen them. This tickled me to no end, so I gathered up as many as I could get my hands on and sent them to him. This has been one of my prize possessions since.
